My vacation, as wonderful as it was, didn’t see me finishing the drafts I was working on.  I’ve been so busy since returning home (and to work!) that I haven’t been able to do much more with them.  A couple of days ago, I was able to write another scene in the movie script, and I added another scene to the YA novel while I was at it.  Unfortunately, I was unable to work on my other novel due to the file having disappeared from my flash drive, Stan (it did reappear later, for no discernible reason - my current theory is that Stan hates me sometimes).  All was not lost, however; I did download and install the 2008 version of Finale Notepad, which is the free composition software I use for writing music.  (Someday I will be able to afford to purchase the full version of Finale; oh, how I dream of that day!)

This long weekend, I am spending a lot of my time working on web site maintenance - getting WordPress Mu working on http://chatnano.net, installing Joomla! to a couple of other web sites I manage, and just general web design foolishness.  I am, of course, also hoping to work in some writing.

Priorities can be difficult things to set and stick to.

I am on vacation right now.  I’m using my time as wisely as I can, working on my personal fiction projects daily.  I’ve got a movie script in the works (on draft #1), a YA novel on the go (on draft #2), and a general fiction novel (on draft #1).  I’m hoping to complete my current drafts for all three projects by the time my vacation is over; if I manage to finish well before, I have a couple of short stories to start and a few more novels that I’m itching to get working on.

The beauty of vacation - which I have not had properly since high school - is the ability to be completely relaxed and to schedule my days however I please.  So far, I’ve been sleeping in every day and staying up late every night.  But I’m also getting a decent amount of writing done - both online and off.

I’m highly optimistic as to my ability to complete these drafts in the next week.  And I’m getting a lot of desperately needed rest, to boot.
