Business: Back online after a hiatus.

I am pleased to note that our server is back up and working properly, and with it has come my web site and blog!

I am planning a few things for 2012 right now and hope to slowly unveil them beginning in April. In the meantime, it’s business as usual around here! I’m editing reports for a client, working on some things for a couple of volunteer positions I hold, and busily working on another project or three, to boot! It’s busy, but not overly so, and I am very much enjoying myself.

If you have any projects that need writing or editing, please pop on over to the main site and fill out the contact form. If you quote MAR2012 in your project outline, I will give you a 10% discount on my quote!

Business :: Web Site Updated

I was up late last night updating the web site. I wanted to post this yesterday, but I also wanted to wait to make the post until after the web site was ready. So, I’m posting today instead.

As I said in my last entry here, I have goals for this year. Some of those goals have to do with Artful Words; others have to do with my personal writing projects. Don’t worry, I’m going to tell you about all of them eventually!

Today, though, I want to focus on Artful Words itself. If you go to the web site, you will see that some of the content has changed. I’ve added information on the editing services page about my book editing service, and I’ve discontinued the monthly newsletters in favour of adding a resources page to the site. This page will eventually be populated with links to writing web sites, writing blogs that I enjoy, and downloadable worksheets and information sheets that will help you in your writing. The sidebar has been pared down, and now includes a simple Facebook “like” box that should also link back to the Artful Words Facebook Page and a Twitter widget that feeds tweets from @jlhwillard, the Twitter account that will be directly associated with Artful Words. (Don’t worry, you can still find personal and disability-related tweets over at @karalianne!)

This blog is going to be changing a bit, too. I am going to post once a week, on Saturday, and each week I will focus on a particular aspect of writing. The first Saturday of the month will be about business, how Artful Words is doing, what projects I am currently working on, and what new services are being offered. The second Saturday of the month will look at different topics that I deal with on a regular basis in my editing work – things like punctuation errors, spelling mistakes, and grammatical errors. The third Saturday of the month will be a blog roundup, where I will link to writing-related blog posts from the past month that I particularly enjoyed or found informative, and the fourth Saturday of the month will be when I write a post about whatever is the current “hot topic” on the writing blogs I read. When there is a fifth Saturday in the month, I’ll write about my personal projects and give updates on my progress.

This is the first Saturday of the month, and this has been your business update. As your reward for reading this entire post, I would like to give you a reward. If you have a project you would like to work with me on, use the contact form to give me the details, and include the discount code MAR2011 to get 10% off my fee, whether or not the project is finished in March.
